ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE TIPS
- Flip breakers off and on to make sure that no breaker has seized and to ensure proper
functioning.
- Make sure all breakers are properly labeled.
- Check the condition of all lamp cords, appliance cords, extension cords and plugs. Replace
at first sign of wear or damage.
- Test GFCI(Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters) outlets and breakers monthly by pushing the
test button and replace if needed.
- Test AFCI(Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters) breakers monthly by pushing the test button
and replace if needed.
- All aluminum wire connections should be tightened annually by a qualified electrician.
- Make sure that no vegetation or trees are in contact with overhead service entrance wires.
Have local electric company trim back any vegetation or trees in contact with the overhead
service entrance wires.
- Make sure all exterior outlets exposed to the elements have weather protective covers.
