GUTTER MAINTENANCE TIPS
- Check gutters for standing water and remount if needed. Gutters should have a continuous
slope towards the downspouts for proper drainage.
- Check gutters seams for leaking. Re-seal all leaking gutter seams with a gutter sealant.
- Check gutters for rusted thru holes and damage. Replace all gutters that are rusted thru
or damaged.
- Check gutters periodically for debris buildup. Debris buildup is a coming cause for leaking
into the soffits and heavy buildup of debris can damage the gutters. Clean out gutters
as needed. Gutter guard/mesh covers can be installed that reduce the debris maintenance.
- Check for loose gutter stakes and mounts and repair if needed.
- Make sure downspouts do not discharge next to the foundation. Extending all downspouts 5 feet
away from the foundation is recommended. Rain water discharging by the foundation can cause
moisture issues in crawl spaces and basement and cause the foundation to settle or time.
